Junk

by Janna, Age 12

My friend just gave me a pile of junk,
It’s such a big pile that in it I could take a dunk,
It’s useless I tell you,
Most of it is colored blue.
There’s everything in it from shoes to coat hangers
And empty bottles of glue.

My friend says it’s treasure but about this treasure
I don’t have a clue.
It’s not gold and it’s not money,
And there’s not even a joke book in there that’s really funny,
All there are silly pictures of bunnies.

This junk I say has no meaning to me,
And the treasure in it I can not see,
But as a present, I will accept it,
And say thank you to my friend,
Although my personality does not quite fit.

This pile of junk has its own definition,
To some it’s a passion but to others it has zero recognition.
This is something special, although I just call it junk,
In my heart it has a special position.

What is the meaning behind Junk?

Janna’s poem is about junk and how it became a treasure because of the friendship she had with someone. Try writing your own poem about something that is valuable to you!
