Meet Bea! She’s written a heartfelt poem about her grandfather, who passed away. First, we asked her to share a little about herself!

“I loved playing Uno with grandpa and singing with him. He taught me the old songs he sang growing up, and they were so fun to learn. Grandpa was the funniest person, and he was the best storyteller. He had a gift that always made everyone smile. He was also very wise and insightful.

Grandpa had a big personality and made everyone laugh. For some reason, he always had the best jokes, and they never got old when he told them over again. One of my favourite memories I have with him is when we went to Alaska and looked at the whales and got close to the polar bears. It was so fun to experience that together.”

Bea is on the left, and her sister Georgia is in front.

I love you, Honey

by Beatriz, Age 12

I love you, honey.

Were the last words he said to me.
The words I replay over and over again in my head.

I love you, honey.

Were the last words he said to me.
The words I replay over and over again in my head.

I love you, honey.

The last memory I have of him.
When I got the phone call, my heart sank,
I could not stop replaying the words in my head.

I love you, honey.

I am scared one day I will forget the sound of his voice.
So, I just keep replaying the memory.

I love you, honey.

I miss your laugh, grandpa
And I miss you every day.

I love you, honey.

I love you, grandpa.
And then he was gone.
