Lee’s Interview

Lee, Age 11, has her poem published in BAZOOF! Digi-Mag #83. Space was tight, so included here are some of her interview responses. Congratulations Lee, on your published poem titled, ‘Gretchen.’

1) HAVE YOU WRITTEN MANY POEMS?

I love poetry because it’s such a free art form that doesn’t require much specific format. There are so many different ways to write your poems that you can’t compare one poem to another because they seem completely different. Honestly, when I write poetry, I just spill my thoughts onto the page and worry about everything else later.

2) WHAT OTHER TYPES OF CREATIVE WRITING DO YOU ENJOY?

I love all forms of creative writing! Fantasy is particularly difficult, because it requires so much action and plot, but I love how you can create a whole new world. It feels so special that you can craft something entirely new, something I love about writing in general.

3) WHAT OTHER HOBBIES DO YOU HAVE?

I love learning new things and being busy! I’ve been trying to learn oboe and Japanese and do a lot of theatre. In my free time, I love to write all sorts of forms and read.

4) WHERE DID YOU GET THE NAME ‘GRETCHEN’ FROM?

When I wrote my poem, I honestly could just picture the girl, and her name, in my mind, was Gretchen.
