Case #4 – Vehicle

Case
Glad to see everybody here! I’m Blake and if you’re new, this is where we talk about what to do in different situations I call cases. It’s a lot of fun, and can be very helpful. Often things happen very quickly and we don’t have a lot of time to think. My pages are to help you be prepared to know what to do. What would you do if you were standing alone waiting for a bus or a parent to pick you up, and someone you don’t know pulls up beside you in their vehicle. They motion to you that they want to speak to you or start talking friendly to you. What would be the right choice or the wrong choice, and why?
Response
“I’d run away and go to another place where my parents said to go. The wrong thing to do would be to talk to them.” Brady, Age 8
“I’d run away because I’m not allowed to talk to them.” Megan, Age 6
“If I was at school, I’d run to my teacher. The wrong thing to do would be to talk to them or go near them.” Kiana, Age 5
“I’d run inside my house or get help from an adult I know. The wrong thing to do would be to go to the car and speak to the person.” Kristen, Age 11
“I’d walk away, I wouldn’t go near the person.” Jamie, Age 12
“I’d just walk away and not talk to them, unless it is one of my friend’s parents.” Chandra, Age 9
“I would say, ‘No, I don’t know you. You are not familiar to me,’ and walk away.” Derek, Age 10
“The wrong thing to do would be to listen to them. I wouldn’t go to them. They might be lying so ignore them.” Kylie, Age 9
Wrap-Up
All these responses are great. It’s good to hear that you wouldn’t go to the person. That is the wrong choice. Never take a chance. The right choice would be to find an adult who you can trust to help you. When something scares you or doesn’t feel right, always tell an adult, like your parent. Sometimes you can help another child by telling someone. Thanks for all your answers!
Remember, you can always find a way to do the right thing!
