The Wild Life

090916_2Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe written in 1719. It is one of the most widely published books in history. The story is of Robinson Crusoe who spent thirty years living on an isolated island. It was based on the life of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway who lived for four years on a Pacific island. That’s why a lot of people believed that the story was non-fiction and a travelogue of true incidents. Robinson Crusoe is very long book to read but very interesting! The Wild Life is a fun twist on this famous book!

From the over-exuberant parrot Mak, to the snack-obsessed tapir Rosie, from the persnickety echidna Epi, to the acrobatic pangolin Pango, from the ditzy goat Scrubby, to the commonsensical kingfisher Kiki, and the always-cool chameleon Carmello, things are larger-than-life on a tropical isle that is pure wild animal paradise. But every day is the same and Mak is really bored. He is convinced there is more than just water over the horizon, he dreams of leaving his little paradise and exploring the world.

Then Robinson Crusoe, a marooned human, arrives in the midst of a furious storm. The lives of Mak and his friends are forever changed by this bewildering new ‘creature’. No matter their differences, the castaway human and quirky animals embark together on an hilarious new adventure. They build the island’s first tree-house and survive together. But when two conniving members of the animal kingdom—the savage cats Mal & May—pounce into a battle for control of the island, Crusoe and his animal posse must uncover the true power of friendship against all odds.
